"Nice, real nice..."
Barnaby Woods is a very nice residential neighborhood of approximately 1,834 residents in the northwest section of the city. Homes in this neighborhood sold for an average price of $871,437 in 2010. The homes here are very well maintained single family homes. Current homes on the market are selling for up to $2,100,000.
This neighborhood is exclusively a residential neighborhood and residents will need to travel to other neighborhoods such as nearby Chevy Chase. Residents will find one space of worship with in the neighborhood. People who love tree lined streets and access to Rock Creek Park will love living here as there is direct to the park by way of Pinehurst Parkway Park, which is within the boundaries of Barnaby Woods. Although I am sure many residents do not take advantage of the nearby Metro Bus stops, it is there. Finally, there are no schools within the neighborhood so residents with children will need to look into nearby neighborhoods for public and private schools.
Current crime statistics indicate that the neighborhood is relatively safe as the limited crimes seem to be limited to a few cases of theft from vehicle. As usual you should examine current crime statistics to make an informed decision prior to moving into any neighborhood. I wish I could afford a home here!

"quiet and family friendly"
If you like green spaces, a great place to jog in the morning and an oasis of calm in the evening, Barnaby Woods is the place for you. Real estate prices are high, with homes running 800,000 or more, but if you have the money then it is worth it. Because this neighborhood is mostly residential, there are few places to eat and shop. If you want everything right where you are, or need less space, this isn't the place for you. However, a short ride will take you into Chevy Chase, MD, where there are plenty of services.
Residents tend to know one another, and outsiders are noticed, making the area very safe. Besides the occasional theft, there is very little crime. Because the houses and lots are sizeable, there is little noise from neighbors. Most residents own their own home, and pride of ownership is high meaning the place is well kept up. After school, children play in the yard before coming in to do their homework, so families are everywhere. Yet because the lots are large, activity at a neighbor’s house will not bother anyone and it is easy to find a place to park. Overall, a great place to go if a quiet residential neighborhood is your thing.

"Between a Rock and a Nice Place"
Barnaby Woods is a charming neighborhood located on the northwest border of the District of Columbia. Consisting exclusively of homes, most of which were built before the WWII D.C. housing boom, the Barnaby Woods neighborhood sports no shops or industry of its own. It is just a placed to nice live.
However, it does share one of its borders with Rockfish Park, often mentioned in the popular TV show NCIS as the site of various dead bodies. However, the real life Rockfish Park couldn't be nicer, and has been the site of only one dead body that I know of, that of the tragically murdered Chandra Levy. But that was over a decade ago, and today's park if a favorite among natures lovers who enjoy taking a stroll or jog along its well maintained paths.
Barnaby Woods also borders the Chevy Chase area, which features some of the nicest shopping and dining in the District. While the public school system is not particularly good, there are numerous private school options available to those willing to pay. For these and other reasons, Barnaby Woods continues to attract new families moving to the area to take jobs with the federal government and its supporting industries.
