"Small town feel, with big city house prices"

Chevy Chase is a neighborhood of approximately 20,832 residents located in the northwest section of the city along the Maryland state line. The neighborhood’s boundaries are generally defined as being within the footprint of 41st Street N.W., Western Avenue, Feesenden Street N.W., Broad Branch Road N.W. and Oregon Avenue N.W.. In 2010, the average price of a home sold here was $794.060 with 58% of the homes being owner occupied. Homes here are typically well maintained detached single-family homes. As with many neighborhoods there is a commercial component to the neighborhood as well.

The neighborhood has several schools including St. Johns College High School, Lafayette Elementary School and Blessed Sacrament School. Recreational facilities are located at the Lafayette Recreation Center, as well as numerous private facilities. Excellent restaurants and shopping are located throughout Chevy Chase. Many residents find the numerous Metro Bus stops located in the neighborhood an excellent resource for getting around town. Francis G. Newlands Park as well as in Rock Creek Park provide dedicated green space to the residents of Chevy Chase.

The crime rate in Chevy Chase is low, with recent crime statistics indicating that crimes against people and property are infrequent. As always check the most recent crime statistics and make an informed decision as to the crime risk in any neighborhood. All in all a really nice neighborhood, however the pricing for homes is pretty expensive.

"Trendy and elegant"

Chevy Chase is one of the most famous areas of DC, up there with Georgetown and Capitol Hill. It is also one of the most expensive. Tree-lined streets and quaint homes are everywhere, mixed in with wonderful shops and everything you might need. Neighbors know one another, and keep each other safe. If you have the means to afford Chevy Chase, you might also be able to join the famous Chevy Chase club, and go there on the weekends to enjoy a cocktail. This is a very expensive and stylish "city club" where many of the movers and shakers of Washington society hang out when they don't have business on the Hill. Think ladies with heavy fur coats and lots of diamonds, gold jewelry and you get the idea. Most of the Washington social register meets here. Less exclusive but also wonderful are the many fine restaurants and clubs. Expensive, chauffered cars are everywhere. Weekends and during the summer local residents might hold a barbecue in their back yards and invite all their friends over. Most of the children go to private schools, but after hours they have a safe place to come home to. For those who can afford to live here, it is a delightful place. Of course, the rest of us can always visit.

"No, Not the Actor"

To answer your first question, no, he did not grow up here and no, this is not where the name comes from. But that’s not what really important.
Chevy Chase is one of the nicest, and, unfortunately, most expensive suburban neighborhoods in Washington. Technically, it’s not just in the District of Columbia, but also spreads into Maryland. Its landscape is dotted by brick single family homes on quiet streets and elegant high rises near busier thoroughfares.
Whatever you want or need, you’ll probably find it in this neighborhood. Not happy with your child’s public school? Join the majority of local parents who send their kids to one of several highly ranked private institutions.
Are you hungry for something quick to eat? There are both average and high end fast food joints everywhere. If, on the other hand, you’re looking for something a little more elegant, there are a number of multi star eateries nearby.
How are you set for milk, tires or new flooring? Don’t worry about it. You can find all those, and much more, right nearby.
So, if you love convenience and don’t mind paying extra for it, move right in. And tell them Chevy sent you.
