"Careful with your Junctions..."
The Bay Bridge offers stunning, breathtaking views of the San Francisco Bay. The $4 toll heading westbound into SF is a reasonable standard for the Bay Area, and what makes this bridge cool is that the paid direction is the direction that gets to ride on top and enjoy the views. The Bay Bridge will take you through Treasure Island (a lovely SF stop that few people spend time in) and right into the city.
Be forewarned, however, that the junction is a deceptive one, and if you are traveling on 580 North with the intention of merging onto 80, be SURE that you are going the right way. If you make the mistake of taking 80 West, rather than 80 East, you WILL end up on the bridge, and you WILL have to pay the toll (there is no easy escape like there is on the Golden Gate).
Luckily, Treasure Island offers an escape route in addition to scenic views, so there is any easy out should you need it. Considering how heavy the traffic is on this bridge, you will probably appreciate the exit route if you mistakenly land on this bridge heading in the wrong direction. In fact, no matter where you are coming from, you will probably appreciate being off of this bridge once you have bypassed the traffic.

That whole area is tricky from whatever area your coming. I've had problems getting from Emeryville to the 24 lots of times when I first got here. It will probably only get worse as the continue working on the parallel bridge. The exits in the city can give you problems too when you're new. Hard to get used to exits on the left side.
