Lakeview, Chicago crime - do the locals think there is alot of crime in the neighborhood?

I have lived in several areas of Lakeview and have never had any problems. In my first place, I lived alone and felt perfectly safe going out at night on my own. Now that I live with someone, I go on walks all the time with my dog and never feel worried. Like all areas of a big city, you'll want to be aware of your surroundings when out at night, but this is one of my favorite neighborhoods, which is why I've lived here more than any other part of the city.
