6th Ave
"Good for discount and bulk shopping"
Once upon a time, East 23th Street was a bastion of the burgeoning New York City fashion industry. Major department stores dominated the horizon along Sixth avenue from Union Square northwards, cutting a mile-long swath of New York City old-world elegance. Today, however, high-end has been replaced by big-discount, as a number of clearance centres, superstores, and slightly shady back-room dealers make up this decidedly charming district. Major retailers have made their home here, along them TJ Maxx, Bed Bed Beyond, and Filene's Basement, as well as Old Navy. For the most part, though, this district is little more than a commercial wasteland of depressing bargain buckets and basement sales, punctuated by a few shady DVD stores that sell more than the latest Twilight DVDs and fast-food shops. While it's worth heading to this neighborhood to do some bottom-dollar shopping, this isn't exactly the most scenic tourist trail, nor is it a livable destination. Worth a brief visit, but avoid for longer periods.

"Once you get below 30th, its the most convenient Avenue in the city"
This review is in regards to 6th Ave below 30th street (i.e. Chelsea and below). The Chelsea area Avenue of the Americas is one of the only parts of the city that is actually middle america convenient; you don't actually feel like you're in Manhattan. In a 5 block span of 6th ave there are several drugstores, a Best Buy, an Old Navy, a Bed Bath and Beyond, a Container Store, a Kinko's, a market, an Urban Outfitters, just about every cell phone store imagineable, every bank imagineable, 3 McDonalds, 3 Starbucks, an Olive Garden and a couple of pretty decent restaurants (Mark't has a great staff and pretty killer mussels).
There's nothing really New Yorky about this particular stretch of road and that's kinda why I like it. You feel like you're wherever it is you grew up. There is a certain level of comfortability to this part of 6th ave: you can get a massive amount of errands done and eat at some crappy chain restaurant which is kinda fun sometimes. Even all of the residences in this area are massive doorman buildings that look and feel more like dorms or hospitals than the rest of NY. It's just so commercial that it's a complete guilty pleasure of mine. And, with so few stretches of Manhattan that can actually be considered convenient, it's nice to have this one right in the middle of every thing.

"The Moma"
6th ave runs from the bottom of Manhattan all the way up and is one of the most central roads. A main landmark on this road is the Museum of Modern Art. It is a very popular site so be ready for a crowded street. The MoMa is extremely well known as people travel from all parts of the world to see the wonderful art exhibits.

"I Love Bryant Park !!"
On this street , between W. 40th and W. 42nd Sts, theres a fabulous parkcalled Bryant Park.I love, love, LOVE this fabulous park!! It's located just behind the New York Public Library at 42nd street (between 5th and 6th). It's a great place to stop and enjoy an outdoor lunch when the weather co-operates.
Check it out the next time you're in New York City!!

"Avenue of Americas"
Also known as the Avenue of Americas, which former Mayor Fiorello LaGuardia renamed it in 1945, is one of New York City's busiest streets, probably as busy as Fifth Avenue. Famous for its restaurants, cafes, and department stores. Lamp posts along the avenue once displayed medallions of every North and South American nation.

"Brunch and bakeries"
This is a good little street nestled in amongst West 4th and 6th avenue. We often come down here to pick up some decent wine or have brunch at the Cornelia Street Café.. It’s a great place with a fantastic brunch deal. You’re also close to possibly the most romantic restaurant in all the town - One if by Land, two if by Sea… take someone special here and bring your $$$. Cornelia st also backs onto Bleecker St. This area has some of the best fresh meats in town and Amy’s bakery churns out some quality croissants.. You can also walk 2 mins up the street and have lunch at John’s pizza house – up there with the best in the city!
