Up north along HW 17 in the San Luis there is the Gator Farm that is seriously interesting and of course the Great Sand Dunes. The San Luis State Park and lake is a great place to car camp with kids and fish. And don't forget the quirky but worth the stop UFO Watchtower, this place is a hoot.
