Allendale - Maxwell Park Safety

Hello,

I'm interested in a house that's in Allendale, nearby Maxwell Park, and I'm wondering about security. I've never lived in Oakland, I live in the peninsula, and I wanted to know if it's really an unsafe area. What are the real risks? Auto theft? Or is breaking and entering common?
