Where is TN is a great place for DOD jobs, safe and family friendly, etc.

We are moving to Tennessee are a family of 4, two adults, and to kids, husband retiring from the military looking for a DOD job, and we have a 7 year old headed into 3rd grade and one going into pre-school. Any recommendations?
