Best area to stay in Atlanta that has cool local restaurants/coffee shops within walking distance?

We are a young couple visiting Atlanta for 4 days on route to see family in Florida - we would like to stay in an area where there is some local culture, good food, independent coffee shops, bars etc. We would like to be able to walk around rather than drive everywhere , please can anyone suggest which might be the best area to stay?
