How safe is Borough Park to tourists?

I'm not Jewish and visited the area once on the Sabbath and felt a little vulnerable/intimidated. As a whole, are residents extremely wary of tourists visiting who aren't Jewish? Probably didn't help that I was wearing a bright polo shirt last...
