Thanksgiving Plans?

Anyone have any interesting Thanksgiving plans? We're just going to stay here in Orinda and enjoy the cold, appropriate whether. We've been getting our turkey and side dishes from Whole Foods the last three years and that's what we're doing this year too. It's just a lot easier than trying to get everything together with our schedules.

I'm looking forward to seeing the Patriots on TV this year when they play Detriot. (I've been a fan since 1986 though I have never lived in New England area.)

What are your plans? Or if you had your Thanksgiving already, how did it go? Any family drama? (By the way, if you want to check out a really great Thanksgiving movie, try "Home for the Holidays". Very funny. Robert Downey Jr., Holly Hunter, Steve Guttenberg, and Claire Danes.)

Yeahhh Patriots! I actually don't care much about football but I am from New England and my boyfriend is a huge Pats fan. I'm actually headed to Marin in a little over an hour to visit the only family that I have in California. They always have big, fun meals and gatherings. Then tomorrow I head home to Connecticut to introduce my boyfriend to the rest of my family (insert dramatic music here).

It should all be fine but we just watched "Four Christmases" where they go and meet each others' families, and we sincerely hope that our process goes smoother than that.

Uhhh! The big family meeting--big pressure! Just kidding. It sounds like you have a pretty close relationship with your family and things are fairly functional so I'm sure that it will go great. Marin sounds like the perfect Bay Area location for Thanksgiving as well. Very leafy and probably foggy.

I don't like most of the that Four Christmases movie (a little too sequential for me--you know, one family, then another one, then another one), but I love the manger scene sequence--Vince Vaughn is hilarious.

Another good movie about the whole bringing the fiance/e home to meet the parents (other than Meet the Parents, of course) is The Family Stone with Sarah Jessica Parker and a great cast. Its kinda a dramady but I really liked it. (Diane Keaton, Dermot Mulroney, Rachel MacAdams and more.) Hard not to like it with that cast.

Oh yeah, and Go Pats! I'm smelling Superbowl! (Okay, with that defense that might be a bit much, but playoff run at least.)

Next week the hated J-E-T-S, Jets! On Monday Night so I'll get to watch. Yeah!

Okay, I'm going to go and fix myself a cup of tea in my Tom Brady mug and try to calm my fanaticism down a bit. (Nothing like a cup of Earl Grey with Tom Terrific's baby blues staring at me!)

Yes, go Pats! The family meeting went great - I have a few relatives with relatively little tact, but everything was generally very well-received and everyone was on their best behavior - always good in these types of gatherings. And yes, now I'm back in Patriots land, where it is all anyone talks about.

Family Stone is a great movie - I remember seeing it about two years ago and really enjoying the complicated love plot, but I always have a soft spot for romance movies. And Dermot Mulroney.

Dermot is great--You probably like Best Friends Wedding too--one of my favorites. Actually I can't think of anything I don't like him in. I recently was watching this really terrible After School Special kind of made for TV movie with him and Bill Bixby ( of Incredible Hulk fame for old timers who remember the series from the 70s) and despite the corniness of it all I couldn't stop watching. It must have been one of his earliest roles--very funny.

Thanksgiving was great too. Just finished the last of the leftovers yesterday. Now just two months to take off the extra weight from it.
