What is crime like in Calumet Heights, Chicago?

A neighborhood being predominantly African American does not correlate to crime. I'm not sure why that's mentioned here.

Calumet Heights isn't a particularly crime-ridden area, and like mentioned above there isn't a big gang problem or anything. The crime is a little bit higher than some other more affluent areas, but it's mainly theft and assault, rather than homicides and weapons charges.

Not bad. It isn't the safest area in Chicago, and it is predominantly African American, but you won't run into real gang problems here. Still, it isn't the type of place I'd go for a late night stroll in.
