Gramercy or Carnegie hill?

Gramercy Park or Carnegie Hill - I know I know, these 2 areas could be seen as chalk and cheese. However, they could be seen as more comparable than one would initially suspect, if you scratch beneath the surface. We're a couple in our mid 30s looking for the right neighborhood. We love living in a family friendly area but are torn between the peace and quiet of one vs the central location of the other. Any thoughts or opinions would be really appreciated.

I Live in Carnegie Hill and I love it. Having spent plenty time in Gramercy Park, I can say that it is closer to some of the major attractions in NYC, but in my opinion it comes at the expense of being in crowded, touristic streets, and the area is much more expensive than what you could find in Carnegie Hill. Carnegie Hill is cheaper, has quieter streets, a more communal feeling and it's about 15 minutes tops to midtown. My personal favorite is being 4-5 blocks at the most from Central Park.

I would 100% go for Gramercy as it has a better location. But it also depends on where you will be working, and where you will be spending most of your time.
