Of all the neighborhoods in San Francisco, Central Waterfront is most like China Basin or India Basin. However, it is not really the part of San Francisco that anyone moves to, since it is pretty much just a waterfront where ships get unloaded. It is basically just an industrial area, except on the northern end where Dogpatch is home to a bunch of restaurants and commercial stores. (Dogpatch is a popular place for workers in SOMA to catch lunch when they are down picking up equipment or supplies.)
Unlike Fisherman's Wharf in Oakland, however, it does not have a lot of warehouse buildings for living, I don't think.
