What is crime like in Chatham, Chicago?

Chatham is okay, I'm not particularly fond of our Alder-Lady. On some blocks you have two tier lighting which is exceptionally nice and adds to the safety of the block, and then on other blocks there is the typical old street lighting? Don't necessarily understand how the various blocks were selected? There much to be done in Chatham, but if you don't get started doing something visible, what are you doing?

I'd say pretty safe, even though it isn't a particularly rich neighborhood. I've been here a handful of times, and there are a lot of locally owned businesses, which makes me think that it's the owners who are making sure bad elements don't get a foothold in Chatham.
