Museum of Science and Industry

Outrageous admission price aside, this is a great way to spend a day- especially if you got the groupon deal last week.

My four kids ages 10 months to 6 years all find it entertaining and I am not board out of my mind either.

In their opinion highlights are:

the hatchery- chicks are cute!
the train layout- my four year old son loves this
the farm exhibit- climbing on a tractor? right up the 2 year old's alley
the moon/space exhibit my six year old is fascinated.
thed kids/crawler area is also great for the baby...

As a grown-up with no kids, I love this museum too! My Number 1 favorite is Colleen Moore's Fairy Castle. Also love the baby chick hatchery, the huge train layout (interesting how the artist/designer took certain liberties with the downtown boundaries), and the U-boat exhibit (even the exhibits outside the boat are quite interesting). And of course for the Christmas holidays, they always have the wonder "Christmas Around the World" exhibit. Groves and groves of huge evergreen trees, each covered with and surrounded by decorations from countries all over the world! Spectacular! Nope, this place is not just for kids. It's for anyone with any interest in the vast and ever-expanding fields of Science and Industry.

Tip: You can take a free, virtual visit of the Fairy Castle and several other permanent exhibits from the website: http://www.msichicago.org/ I'm going there to visit the Castle NOW!
