Seeking family friendly neighborhood with easy access to the Loop.

Relocating from Austin to Chicago and will be working in the Loop. I'm looking for neighborhoods (or suburbs) that will offer an easy commute to work and one that will have good daycare options close to home. My current situ in Austin: daycare two blocks from home and a 5 mile commute by car. Public transport will be a huge adjustment for us, so it would be great to find a place where we wouldn't need to leave the neighborhood for weekend fun and shopping.
