What Chicago internet providers offer the best quality in Chicago?

My family had Wow! cable and internet for almost a decade. The WiFi was solid as far as I can recall. Since then, we've dropped them and opted for DirecTv television. While it is by far my favorite in terms of channel selection and layout, it meant that we had to find another internet provider. We got Clear just a while ago (maybe June of this year?) and it was fine for about 2 months. Since then, we use a heavy amount of internet, and my online games have become a gamble of stifled play or a drop in connection. Our bill is around $50 a month for 45 Mbps (I believe. I don't pay the bills haha). At any given moment, we have about 10 devices connected to the internet. My mother believes me to be the technical "voice of god" so to speak, but I haven't really been able to find an internet provider that works with our data driven lives that also won't make us poor. I would love to hear some user experiences! :D (We are very very VERY pleased with our DirecTv service, so I don't think we would opt for anything that would make us change television providers.)
