Every July sees the Macy's Music Festival, which was formerly known as the Cincinnati Jazz Festival. This festival has been going strong for 50 years. The Macy's Music Festival features some of the best R&B, jazz, hip-hip and soul artists from today, as well as classic acts who appear at the festival year-after-year. The Macy's Music Festival is held at Paul Brown Stadium.
Cincinnati has always had a great music scene and there always seems to be something new, with 2012 being the inaugural Bunbury Festival to be held at Sawyer Point and Yeatman's Cover along the river. The Bunbury Festival is a three-day music festival in mid-July, which is being billed as affordable, fun, and tech-savvy. The inaugural year is being headlined by national recording artists, Jane's Addition, Weezer, and Death Cab for Cutie.
Also, throughout the summer, there are free concerts on Fountain Square in Downtown Cincinnati. These concerts are held practically every day during the summer months, with each day have a genre theme. My favorite are the Friday night, MidPoint Indie Summer concerts which feature local, regional, and national acts.
The MidPoint Music Festival is another great music festival, although it is held at the end of September. This three-day festival is held at various venues throughout Downtown Cincinnati and features more than 180 bands from the local scene to bands from around the globe. The MidPoint Music Festival is in its 11th year.
