Mayor Mallory has a long political history in Cincinnati and Ohio. He comes from a long line of Mallory politicians, including state representatives and at least one judge.

He's worked with local organizations to increase tourism in the Greater Cincinnati area and we've had several major events come to town as a result of it. One of the biggest is the upcoming 2012 World Choir Games that will bring big tourism dollars to the city.

I remember when the Banks project was just a big hole in the ground. I got tired of hearing Mark Mallory talk about it, but it finally become a reality. He also pushed for the Stretetcar project, but the thing I most admire him for is his stance on Issue 5 last year.

Ohio's governor pushed through a constitutional amendment that would strip the guts out public employees' right to engage in collective bargaining. When the unions banded together across the state to try to get the amendment repealed, Mallory was one of the local politicians who spoke in support of unions during a big rally on the square.

Current Cincinnati Mayor Mark Mallory is a born and bred Cincinnatian whose family has a long history of public service. He was sworn in as mayor in 2005 and has since been re-elected. Prior to becoming mayor, he served in both the Ohio House of Representatives and in the Ohio Senate. He has, at times, been a controversial mayor, especially when it comes to the hot button issue of the streetcar. Mayor Mallory has been a huge supporter of the streetcar project, which is supposed to connect the downtown area with the uptown community where the University of Cincinnati and major hospitals are located. As mayor, he has worked to grow the local economy and has tried to bring a positive focus to Cincinnati. He also introduced the Green Cincinnati Action Plan in order to reduce Cincinnati's carbon footprint. Mayor Mallory has also appeared on numerous national television and radio programs, including being the first non-corporate CEO featured on the program "Undercover Boss." And, as someone who has met Mayor Mallory before he was mayor, he's just a nice guy.
