Admission to the zoo can be a little pricey for a family of four. Depending on the ages of the children, it can get even pricier. If your kids aren't yet teenagers, then it costs $10 (under 2 are free); however, if they are teens, the entrance fee is the adult price of $15. If you plan to go to the zoo more than once a year, your best bet is to purchase a family membership. The Premium Membership is $119 and includes parking (which is $8 per visit). That would cover the cost of two zoo visits for two adults, kids (or grandkids) in the same household 18 and under, and parking. The zoo also has some rides and a 4-D theater. Tickets to those cost extra, but if you're a zoo member you get a discount. Zoo members also get a discount on merchandise and food. If your family of four gets hungry, there are a number of different concession stands and a cafe; however, food and drinks can be expensive, so you might want to bring a picnic lunch and save some cash. For a family of four, I definitely recommend getting a zoo membership, besides covering admission for two visits and discounts on extras, zoo members also get discounted admission at more than 100 other zoos around the country and free admission to the PNC Festival of Lights, the annual holiday lights spectacular. If you don't want a zoo membership, but are a member of AAA, you can purchase discounted tickets at any local AAA office.
