"Elite Gated Community"

Coto de Caza is an elite gated private community within the County of Orange in California. This is a census designated location that is based on the costliest and oldest planned community the Orange County has ever designed. The term “Coto de Caza” means Hunting Reserve in Spanish and signifies that this region is a private place.

The people at Coto de Caza earn a median household income of over $135,000. They fulfill their shopping needs at the neighboring cities like Rancho Santa Margarita, Mission Viejo, Las Flores and Ladera Ranch. Their children mostly study in schools under the Capistrano Unified School District that are located within a close distance to this private neighborhood. Most of this region is made up of tract homes, with a few exceptions along the off skirts of the main streets.

Coto de Caza is also known for the Thomas F. Riley Wildnerness Park. This park is open to the general public, weather permitting, and surrounds the border of this private community along the northern, southern and eastern sides. This park is well reputed for their wild mountain lion population. It is also well known for its having a wide variety of wildlife plants and animals, oak groves and sycamores. Visitors to this Wilderness Park can enjoy hours of fun taking part in equestrian activities, biking and hiking. Also located within this park is a nature center, which also provides outdoor education for the local school students and community groups. This park is managed and maintained by the Orange County Parks.
