Cow Hollow in San Francisco has similarities with lots of neighborhoods. Cow Hollow is most often compared to Pacific Heights just to the south, except that Pacific Heights is much more about families where as Cow Hollow is much more about younger couples with either no kids or pre-school ages kids. (Stroller city on Sunday mornings.)
I think the closest San Francisco neighborhood to Cow Hollow is Russian Hill both in terms of feel and demographics. Both are expensive and attract people who want to be close to the action but not so close they can't get a good night's sleep.
