Culebra Rd
"1604 to downtown"
This road varies as you drive it from beginning to end. At one end you have very new homes and shopping centers being built. On the other end you have several businesses closing, pot holes, and crime. It’s amazing how driving down one street you can see how much change there is. Careful for the police station if you go speeding inside 410.

Culebra Rd
"Not my favorite part of town, but it has gotten better"
Although it has been built up a lot, there are still a lot of little neighborhoods off of Culebra that I would be scared to go to after dark. There is a lot of shopping there now, but I generally don't like to be in this area because I have trouble getting around. Although it has easy access to the loop, it still seems like a long drive to get the rest of town. If you are looking to settle down in this area, I would recommend searching elsewhere.

"Culebra Road on the West Side"
Culebra doesn't wind nearly as much as its name implies(it means “snake” in Spanish), but it does pass by Saint Mary's University(home of the Rattlers) and the Southwest Research Institute, as well as a bunch of used car dealerships and Mexican restaurants. The portion close to the University is beginning to be revitalized; further east is more run down, and still further east towards Leon Valley near the SWRI is mostly undeveloped countryside.
