"Devil's Thumb is named for the conspicious protruding rock formation..."
The neighborhood that winds up the South Boulder ridge is a great place to live. It is nestled right up along a ridge under the Flatirons and the pointy rock formation called Devil's Thumb. There are beautiful though expensive homes, the yards are big and many of the back doors are on Boulder's open space and mountain parks property.
I image that real estate is not cheap, even a more ran down home (which I doubt there are many in the neighborhood) will have a pretty price tag because of the prime mountain location. It doesn't take long to drive down into town and the Table Mesa shopping center is especially close by. Fairview Highschool is only minutes away and there are of course great places to bike and ride. The mountain trails run immediately into the mountains and within a 20 minute walk you can be deep in the forest and up the side of the mountain.
The neighborhood is upper to middle class and is a nice friendly place to live. There is something really special about being perched up within that neighborhood and I have to say that of all South Boulder neighborhoods I would choose to live there if I could afford it.
