"Stay away on game days"
Oh, that crazy Nashville topography! When the flash flood hit us back in May, most of this “East Bank” area got waterlogged. LP Field, for example, had water coming up almost to the front seats. The pictures remind me of those stories of the Roman Coliseum, where the ancient Romans would regularly flood the field so they could hold ship battles.
One place that escaped the waters, albeit barely, was the Gerst Haus, a German restaurant down at Woodland Street and Interstate Drive. The Gerst Haus has been with Nashville since 1890, when the Gersts were prominent citizens of Germantown. I hear nothing but praise for this place; the Gerst Haus is on my list of Things I Should Have Done Already in Nashville.
Traffic in this area, of course, is busy at the best of times; when the Titans play, it’s a nightmare. And one night in early December each year, the Woodland Street Bridge will be blocked off for the Nashville Christmas parade.
The bridges that cross the river here are all major traffic arteries. At least seven different local buses use those bridges as part of their route. The four buses that use the Woodland Street Bridge are the ones that have stops in the East Bank area.

"Close to the Cumberland River and Downtown."
The area of East Bank of Nashville is separated by the west bank and the east bank of the Cumberland River. The area of the east bank has been used primarily for just industrial uses and is mainly warehouses and businesses rather than homes. The homes that are in the area are the lower income homes rather than higher priced homes.
The area is home to the Tennessee Titans football field, LP Field which is also home to the country music festival that was once called Fan Fair. Now referred to as the CMA Music Festival, the festival is non stop country music for four days straight during the beginning to the middle of June each year.
Located nearby to LP Field is the Juvenile court which is responsible for either releasing juveniles back to their families or for keeping them in the states custody. The Shelby Street Bridge has been featured in a number of country music videos such as Big and Rich’s Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy.
There are plans in the works for the city to start to build a new amusement park that will feature a number of rides and attractions for visitors of Nashville and the residents of Nashville. There is no set date as to when they are going to open the park as the construction has yet to be started. Once the construction begins, the area will be more popular than it is now and will draw a large crowd during the much warmer months from the beginning of May to the end of September as well as into October.

"The best is yet to come"
The Cumberland River divides two distinct areas--west bank and east bank. West has long been mixed use, whereas east has prinarily been industrial, until in recent years when the football stadium was built there. Now the main landmarks are the stadium and attendant parking lots, Juvenile Court, the Shelby Street Pedestrian Bridge, and the Ghost Ballet public art sculpture, Some say the sculpture looks like a roller coaster, but it really is a collection of materials that references Nashville's ties to the railroad and other industry.
Construction is starting on the new Riverfront Adventure Park, which will open in 2011. The East Bank Greenway is also located there.
Places to live include the relatively new Fifth and Main.
