"Golf Courses, Water, Childrens Arboretum"

East Columbia is a mixed bag, but in recent years, it is slowly improving and creating a more personal, overall charm. Many neighborhoods are near the Columbia River are more upscale, while others, those around Gertz Circle, need some work. There are also neighborhoods in between which makes East Columbia a growing and more appealing community.

If you like to be outdoors, then East Columbia offers some nice golf courses, water activities and the popular Columbia Children’s Arboretum, a 28 acre natural area park.

Shopping in East Columbia is nearby, as most residents rely on Jantzen Beach Shopping Center which has several popular big name grocery stores. Smaller, locally owned stores are also here.

"Northernmost Part of Portland- Great for Golf Lovers!"

East Columbia is a neighborhood in the far north of Portland. There is a great deal of green space in this part of town including the Columbia Children's Arboretum. The arboretum is over 28 acres and has a wide variety of agriculture including trees planted by young local students. Residents of East Columbia are also quite nearby Washington state. Another interesting aspect that sets East Columbia apart from other parts of town is the fact that there are numerous golf courses including Heron Lakes Golf Course and Columbia Edgewater Golf Course.

The types of homes you will find in East Columbia depend on the part of the neighborhood in which you look. Some areas are quite transitional, while others offer impressive, beautiful homes. While there isn't too much in the way of businesses, restaurants and shopping options right in East Columbia, you can access these areas through just a quick drive. "Parks and Golf Courses on the Columbia River"

East Columbia, along the Columbia River in Northeast Portland, is known for its many green spaces. It is home to the Columbia Edgewater Country Club, Portland Meadows Golf Course, and Delta Park. There's also another golf club just outside the eastern boundary of the neighborhood, and another just to the west. East Columbia is also home to the Columbia Children's Arboretum, a popular attraction for families.

It is a good neighborhood for those who enjoy being active in the outdoors. In addition to the parks and golf courses already mentioned, there are also a number of marine activities enjoyed by residents of this neighborhood bordering the Columbia River. It tends to be seen as a bit more upscale area than neighboring Bridgeton, which lies between parts of East Columbia and the Columbia River and is more well-known for its access to marine facilities and activities.

Housing here tends to include newer houses, apartments, and condos, occupied by a mix of blue-collar and professional residents. New housing developments have attracted many newcomers to the area. Residents of this fairly spread-out neighborhood tend to be dependent on their cars. Within East Columbia, there is not a lot of shopping, though surrounding neighborhoods offer a full range of restaurants and retail areas.
