Which parts of East Harlem are "safe"?
Hi. I'm looking to rent in East Harlem, but not sure about how safe it is. Will be two white guys in their early 30's. I know certain areas are better than others, and I've heard a lot of "it's been getting better'. I've also been seeing a lot of listings around 116th & 1st/2nd. How is that neighborhood? Safe? Run down? Grimy? Hipstery? Can someone give me an oversimplified boundary for the "good" and "bad" parts of East Harlem? The affordable rent is attractive, and I work in Midtown East, so it's convenient.
