East Houston is one of the oldest neighborhoods in the area. There are newer offerings sprinkled throughout this neighborhood. The Regional Medical Center is a staple in this area. Streets like North Wayside Drive, Mesa Drive and Ley Road are easily accessible in East Houston. You will find a number of hotels and restaurants to choose from here. This area is most popular for its proximity to great Houston offerings. Shepherd Park Plaza is one of the staples in this community. You will also find apartments and schools in this Houston locale. The Pet Park in this area is a great place for pet owners. Major highway access makes this a good location to visit and travel through. Interstate 10 and Interstate 45 are close to this eastern portion of the town. The Port of Houston is one of the great tourist attractions to visit here. Tourists enjoy seeing the international waterways used for trade in this area. Local parks provide residents with options for enjoying the outdoors. Two of the parks found here are Lake Forest Park and Liberty Park. There is quaintness to this area, but it is far less attractive than other urban locations in the city.
