Is Financial District South in San Francisco a good place to live for families with kids?

No. The Financial District South is not a good place to live for families with kids. It is just too urban feeling and somewhat dangerous. For families it is best to head west in San Francisco to Twin Peaks or the Richmond District. Maybe even Sea Cliff if you want a similarly posh and super expensive location.
