Grand Boulevard, Chicago - What are the schools like?

Crappy. The schools in Grand Boulevard reflect the lower income status and crime rate, neither of which inspire confidence. I've heard from friends (I don't have kids yet and didn't go to school in Grand Boulevard) that the schools are more or less atrocious.

There are two Catholic schools in this area that are very good. The public schools however are not the best - they all rank well below average in test scores and in parental approval.
