Would you recommend the Gresham neighborhood in Chicago for families with kids?

No. Gresham is not a good area, and I wouldn't recommend it for families. Crime is a bit of a problem in Gresham, and you don't want your kids around that. On the plus side, it's cheap, so if you're really struggling for a time you might consider it, but if you have the means, go elsewhere.
