"An area surrounded by car dealerships and businesses"
Highland Park East is an older neighborhood in Aurora. It is bordered on two sides by busy streets that are home to many car dealerships, a drug store, ice cream shop, and coffee shop. This area has seemed run down for some years now, even though some of the newer businesses have started to breath a little life into this area. There is a nice park located in the neighborhood but some of the homes in this area are run down and lacking attention. The median home price here is $108,000 while the median household income is $37,400, both of which are below state averages.
Also located in this neighborhood is the Pinewood Lodge. This is a senior living community which has apartments for those 62 years old and up. There are certain income requirements that must be met to live here.
This neighborhood is located between 6th Avenue and East Alameda Avenue, both of which have easy access to I-225 although it may get busy on these streets during peak rush hour times.
