"Hillrose is a very small agricultural town in SE Colorado"

Hillrose is a very small agriculturally centered town in NE Colorado that lies between Fort Morgan and Sterling. Hillrose also sits between I-76 and the Poudre River. The population is only about 250 people and most are employed in the surrounding towns, in agricultural or ranching or part of the trucking industry along I-76 and the Denver area.

The average household income is about $30,000 and there is a mix of minimal living, ranch properties and some new homes. The area is pretty but hot in the summer and windy, dry and cold in the winters. About 10% of the town is considered below the poverty line.
Cons
  • dirt roads
  • no amenities
  • no jobs

"Not much to see or do in HIllrose"

Hillrose is a small town of only 250 residents in northeastern Colorado, only about a mile from I-76. There are no real amenities in town, although there is a small park with a basketball court. Highway 6 which passes through Hillrose on the northern end of town is the only road here which is paved, the rest are all dirt This is also where you'll find the grain elevators. If I had to guess I'd say that half of the homes here are mobile homes, while the other half are smaller, single family homes. The mobile homes are all located together in two different parts of the area, if I remember correctly.

The median household income for Hillrose is $40,978 which is below the state average, but homes here are also well below state average and go for around $71,106. The main industry in Hillrose is manufacturing, followed by retail. Since many of the residents work in retail they need to travel to either Brush or Fort Morgan for work. Brush is about 11 minutes away and Fort Morgan is about 20 minutes away. Fort Morgan is much larger than Brush with about 11,500 people. This is also the best place for residents of Hillrose to do their shopping and dining out.

23% of the residents of Hillrose are below the poverty line, which is higher than the state's average. About 75% of the town's residents are white, followed by 22% Hispanic.

There are no schools in Hillrose as it's so small, so kids have to travel to Brush. Unless you're a trucker needing quick access to I-76, I don't really see the appeal of living here.
Cons
  • dirt roads
  • no jobs
  • no amenities
