"One of Best Neighborhoods in Portland"
Hillside, not to be confused with Hillsboro or Hillsdale, is located in a gorgeous section of NW Portland. One of the more beautiful neighborhoods, Hillside is a walk or bike ride to the Oregon Zoo, Children’s Museum, Japanese Garden, Rose Gardens; some of the more popular tourist attractions in Portland. One of my favorite destinations is right outside this neighborhood as well: Forest Park. One of the more beautiful parks in all of the U.S. (it is the largest urban park in the country or so they say), you can spend the entire day here roaming around with the various hiking and biking trails, taking in the greenery and watching the various wildlife. Afterwards, walk to Nob Hill and you will find some of the coolest shopping and trendiest restaurants around. Needless to say, the homes are amazing nestled in beautiful neighborhoods with views of everything. While you are minutes from the downtown center, you will literally feel you are miles away in this tranquil neighborhood.

"Beautiful Upscale Neighborhood Near Washington Park"
Hillside is a beautiful neighborhood in Northwest Portland. One major benefit of this neighborhood is its close proximity to Washington Park, which offers numerous attractions such as the Rose Garden, Arboretum, Zoo, and Japanese Gardens. Another beautiful area next to Hillside is Forest Park, noted as one of the most amazing parks in the country. Hillside itself is home to Pittock Mansion, a huge historic home offering public tours.
While these areas are popular among tourists, they never seem busy or crowded, and the residential areas of Hillside are very quiet. Expansive homes on wide, tree lined streets make this a popular neighborhood for professionals. Because real estate prices are on the higher end – many of the houses here cost over a million – residents tend to be fairly wealthy. The homes tend to be large and well kept, with colorful yards and gardens.
The hill provides amazing views, which tend to be of green spaces rather than buildings. There aren't many coffee houses, restaurants, or shops in Hillside itself, though all of these are easily available in neighboring areas of the city. Walking down the hill to the popular Nob Hill neighborhood is easy, but you'll want to use public transportation or a car to get back up the steep hill. In addition to the tourist attractions, Hillside is also home to Hillside Community Center, a former school designed by a famous architect.

"Hiillside Puts the H in Hill"
Hillside is next to Arlington Heights, located right next to Washington Park. One major plus to this area is that you have all the benefits of the park including easy access to the Rose Test Gardens, hiking in the arboretum, and the Japanese Gardens. Another Washington Park attraction, the Pittock Manor, is located right in Hillside. All of these attractions are beautiful, and while there may be tourists, they never seem to be too swamped.
Since you are on a hill in Hillside, you will benefit from absolutely stunning views. Many homes overlook lush expanses of trees. People who live here feel very removed from the city. Yet, downtown Portland is also very accessible. Although you will need to get in a car to get where you are going, nowhere is a very easy walk from Hillside. You probably will need to drive somewhere just to walk your dog unless you have amazing leg muscles.
Many families live in this area, and it is considered to be very safe and quiet. However, if you are shopping for homes, you will quickly find that many are quite expensive. But the stunning views of the city just might be worth it!
