Is Hudson, FL a safe area to live in?

I am a single 26 year old female moving to the Florida area in a few months for a job transfer. I am looking for a reasonably priced home that 2 of my friends are going to rent with me. We are all in our twenties. We want to be 30 minutes from the beach. We are looking for a safe and nice but yet entertaining area to be in that we can all afford. I have been researching the area and have heard positive things about St. Petersburg, Dunedin, Palm Harbor and Hudson. Any suggestions anyone? It would be appreciated!
