Unfortunately, many area landlords don't rent to pet owners because they have found that pets make for greater risk of apartment damage and the apartments seem to rent quickly even when the landlords don't allow pets. Even if the renter pays for the damage, getting repairs done can be a big hassle for the owner. Probably 20-30% of apartments in the Hyde Park area will allow pets. Usually apartments which allow pets are a little more worn inside. Craigslist can be a good place to search for pet-friendly accommodations since the web site allows renters to search for area apartments where cats and/or dogs are allowed.
