"Jamestown -- There's gold in them there hills:)"
Jamestown is tucked up in the foothills above Boulder -- about a 30 minute car ride away. Situated up not far from the neighboring towns of Gold Hill, both communities were originally founded on gold. You can still see all the talus fields spilling down the hills sides were the many hundreds of mining claims tried to strike it big back in the late 1800's.
I had a great friend and her daughter who lived in Jamestown for one year, they rented a little cabin and heated their place with wood. She loved it but eventually they moved back to the city (Boulder) and then moved to Lyons as a compromise between the two.
Jamestown has a hushed peaceful feeling and is so fresh compared to Boulder's bustle. There are some old timers up their and a lot of young hippy couples from the midwest living the dream of living simply in the mountains. It is a great place and land and property is not too over priced even considering its Boulder County. But don't get me wrong, while you can find old cabins and small properties for reasonable prices there are many amazing new homes on big prime chunks of land around Jamestown. The views can be spectacular and the price tags for those types of properties. Jamestown is a nice mix of old and new structures.
