"Best for tight budgets and commuters"
I have two school-aged children (in different schools) and I've been sorely disappointed with the quality of the schools, not the education per say but the school systems. As a whole, I find the staff to be either unknowledgeable or impolite and the children don't get enough exercise or fresh air. As far as the medical facilities go, they're mediocre at best. I recently starting going to a doctor in Elmwood, NJ- much better. Jersey City is inexpensive (in comparison to the surrounding area), has fairly good rentals and there is a small sense of community but overall I don't feel this is a good location for families. It's great for young couples and professionals who need an easy commute to the city and want to save some money. There's a couple okay restaurants (only half are child-friendly) and a few decent enough bars for nightlife. This isn't a party location but it isn't quite a family one either! Commuters. Definitely for commuters.
