Is there anyone who has really lived in La Veta?

I had a roommate who lived there her whole life. It's a very friendly community, but I'm not sure I'd call it "open" considering that most people who live in La Veta have lived there or in the surrounding countryside for years. Many families have generations of history in the town. As with most small towns, it's difficult to move in as an outsider, and it's difficult to leave as someone who's grown up there.
