"Up and coming area which is already up and came!"
I live in Lafayette Winona and was from out of town when I moved here, not knowing anything about the area. I bought a redone 1911 house which is beautiful complete with pool, bar, hot tub, 2 car immense detached garage all for 1/2 the price you get in Larchmont or Edgewater. It is close to the naval base (I go home for lunch each day) and usual drive in rush hour is 15 min. A stone's throw from Ghent and the restaurants and downtown and everything Norfolk has to offer there. Quiet tree lined area where a number do NOT have garages but plenty of on street parking. Little to no crime even though you are close to main road of Lafayette. Great shopping in Ghent and McArthur. Close to interstates and Military Highway. Close to oceanfront or chesapeake bay (15 min drive). This is a hidden gem
Pros
- Undervalued
- Beautiful refurbished home
- Quiet tree lined neighborhood like days of yore
Cons
- Close to Lafayette so you sometimes hear the noise
- Close to the Zoo so in the summer you hear the loud speaker
- Some of the people have lived here forever and their houses are in need of some sprucing up
