Lincoln Square is the southernmost part of the Upper West Side which has a definite vibe. There are a lot of high end restaurants in Lincoln Square -- the two most expensive restaurants in New York are in Columbus Circle. There's not really much of a nightlife scene in this area because the demographic is much older than anywhere downtown. It's also a bit stuffy if you discount any of the tourist contingency. The apartments are quite expensive and most of the residents are quite well off and settled down. I wouldn't live here if I were young and single, that's for sure. But, for the more established / retired / with family people, it's a nice neighborhood that's very close to Central Park and tons of transportation.
