What's Little Village like in 2017?

Currently I'm a college student moving to Little Village, found a great deal on an apartment on the 30th block of Drake. I don't mind walking. How is the crime like over there? Little village crime maps don't look too terrible compared to some of the other areas. I go to DePaul. My only concern is crime and street parking. The last thing I want is for somebody to bash through my Lexus. I'm not naive I always lock my car and empty my car of valuables. I'm also Caucasian so I hope that doesn't make me a threat to the majority Hispanic community. What do you guys think? Anybody local to little village give me some feedback?
