Bailey's Arboretum is a "dog friendly" park. There are several trails available with stations along each giving information on the fauna, flora and natural habitat of animals living within the arboretum. It is free (donations appreciated) and open all year.

I have a Goldendoodle that loves to run and explore new places. I often take her to Bailey's Arboretum, www.baileyarboretum.org which is 40 Acres of beautiful gardens on Bayville Road in Lattingtown. The Arboretum has trails through the woods and allows dogs on a leash.

Another great park is Coindre Hall on Browns Road in Huntington. It consists of 13 Acres of un-fenced, waterfront property. It is a large dog park where dogs are free to run, roam, swim, explore and make new friends! With 13 Acres, it never feels crowded.

We don't need dog parks. There is far more open space that most of the towns and villages on Long Island. And at this time of year you don't have to be too concerned about walking on many of the beaches (some of which are 'private' during the summer months).
