M St Northwest
"Cupcakes and More"
Potomac Street is located just off the bustling M St. in the middle of Georgetown. Shoppers and students of nearby Georgetown University frequent the street.
The most famous "landmark" of Potomac St. is Georgetown Cupcake. This cupcakery, having just opened in Feb 2008, quickly become the model for the ongoing cupcake fad that has (finally) hit Washington DC. Even though the cupcakes cost $2.75 each, there is always a line out the door of this tiny and cute shop. The Red Velvet cupcakes are particularly popular, though I prefer the coconut ones myself.
Just a little further up the street, on the corner of Potomac and Prospect, is Booeymonger. Booeymonger is a reliable, if not spectacular, sandwich shop that is very popular with college students.
