NY1 promotes hipster heaven- Gansevoort's TCI property

Fed up of the snow and the slush? want to escape to warmer climes? why not head down to the uber-stylish Turks and Caicos Islands and enjoy a two night stay at the new Gansevoort hotel property. The meatpacking district's darling is promoting its new resort-condo by offering a steal away package on the city's local ( at least for Time Warner Cable subscribers) news channel. A mention of the NY1 code gets you a $50 discount when booking online at the hotel's website.

Interested? however the package is not cheap by any standards around $600 a night not counting airfare which I think is $800 for a round trip per person from NYC to Provo in TCI.
Am baffled why would such a supposedly 'hip' hotel use a relatively low profile TV channel to promote this offer? Perhaps it thinks NYkers are so fed up of the snow that they will jump at the chance to drop a couple of grand for a two day getaway? bizarre...
