NYC - a haven for suicidal jumpers

- How is this not a melting pot? The demographics are pretty typical for an American city, which we often refer to as "melting pots."

@hhusted - I think the melting pot element of NYC is what makes the city great! There's lots to dislike about NYC (okay, one big thing: THE COST OF HOUSING!) - but its diversity is so intrinsic to its nature! (That's why I'm so pro-Park51 Centre...it's New York, damn it! Give us your huddled masses - from anywhere in the world!)

I do agree to some extent that having a little diversity is good. It keeps you from being bored. But I don't like the idea of allowing anyone to come here. There are people in other countries that are bad. Some are involved in drugs, while some are involved in terrorism. Why allow that stuff here. How would you feel if you owned a home and people started moving in, and many of these people were involved in shady things. You wouldn't like it. In fact, you may just be so scared to have them around you would force them out of your home and block them from coming back. It is the same with NYC. Even my girlfriend, who was born here, told me she has noticed in the last three years the city has turned from being a classy city to a garbage dump. And this is from her own mouth, not mine.

@Ajadedidealist: I have visited many cities that were better than NYC. NYC is an okay city. It does not rate high on the list to me, but there are some things about it that appeal to me. That I will admit and confess.

By the way, the reason I have not moved yet is because my scripts are not finished. Once they are done, and my last two surgeries are completed, I will be gone. I still have plastic surgery to go through after having had surgery to remove cancer earlier this year. According to my doctor, I will be fully healed from all surgeries by March of next year.

By the way, my girlfriend just told me she is planning to travel to Colorado. A good friend of mine lives and works there and he said the economy is really picking up. Once she goes and establishes herself there, I will follow. So I am aiming for a departure date of April, 2011 for sure.

@Uraniumfish It certainly looks bleak doesnt it.. the roaring Asian economies were supposed to pull us out of this mess but even that has not happened. I guess America demand and the economy drives the world no matter what..how long is this going to continue is my greatest concern.
