"Great Article about Maplewood From the NYT"

Maplewood, also sometimes known under its alias--Brooklyn West--is a great commuter suburb of NYC. It's a very socially conscious town that put a premium on diversity of lifestyles, religions, socio-economic and culture. The town has a significant artist and musician community due to its proximity to NYC.

  • 35 minute train ride to NY PENN or 18-20 Miles Driving
  • Incredible blend of all types of peoples and lifestyles
  • socially conscious and responsible
Cons
  • like many essex county towns, the taxes are higher
  • retiring and/or downsizing to this town is hard to do
  • socially conscious, yes good and bad
