"Small town with a village feeling."
Almost every street has its own beach access. The older neighborhoods are quaint and interesting. Two mile drive to the Melbourne Causeway (from Ocean Ave, the "downtown" of Melbourne Beach). A1A turns into a two lane road through Melbourne Beach. Pedestrian/cycle friendly area!
Pros
- Walk to beach, river.
- Everyone's your neighbor!
- Secluded and sleepy as compared to commercial feeling of the northern beaches.
Cons
- During spring break/snowbird season A1A can be congested at the Oak Street/Ocean Avenue intersection.
