"A total college town"

When people think of Milledgeville they either think the antebellum capital or crazy town. This is due to the fact that Milledgeville used to be the capital during the Civil War. Becasue Central State Hospital is located in Milledgeville, the town has also became known as crazy town.

In recent years Milledgeville has become known as a college town. This is due to the fact that three different colleges are located there. There is Georgia College and State University (GC&SU), Georgia Military College (GMC), and Macon Technical College.

Due to the large number of universities several restaurants have also decided to relocate to Milledgeville. The most popular restaurants are downtown, located next to GC&SU. Thursday night is known as college night. It is when most of the resturants downtown turn in nightclubs. Most of the resturants downtown stop serving food around 6pm to 8pm and only serve alcohol instead.

Milledgeville is a wonderful tourist spot, especially if you to visit various historical spots. One of the most popular tourist attractions is Andalusia, the home of novelist Flannery O'Connor. If historical tours aren’t your thing, the tourist center also gives downtown tours and haunted tours. All of which you ride on a trolley for.
